Sleep Apnea Denver
Sleep apnea patients in Denver have been reporting that Somnodent has made life so much easier than the old CPAP machines. CPAP machines are known for being uncomfortable and difficult to get used to; often users report poor quality sleep when using these machines and even sometimes have headaches or daytime sleepiness as a result. Somnodent is a new technology that for those who suffer from sleep apnea or snoring that is far more comfortable to wear and easy to tolerate. In fact, while about half of sleep apnea sufferers report frequent headaches, using Somnodent has been found to reduce them. Denver sleep apnea patients are finding that by switching to Somnodent, they (and their partners) are getting better nights rest and wake up feeling rested and refreshed. Many say they wish they had switched from their CPAP machines sooner!
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a fairly common condition that often goes undiagnosed. In fact, its been said that up to 90% of people with sleep apnea don’t’ even know they have it! The most common symptoms are excessive daytime sleepiness, problems with memory/concentration, morning or night headaches, nighttime sweating or chest pains, getting up during the night to urinate, swelling of the legs, and heartburn at night. Almost all people with sleep apnea also snore loudly, so your bed partner or roommate may be the first to notice you have a problem! Generally, the severity of sleep apnea is determined by how many times during the night you stop breathing. This could range from a few times an hour (which is mild apnea) to more than 50 times an hour (which is severe apnea). Obviously, both the oxygen deprivation and the sleep deprivation are not good for the health and most people notice a huge difference in their mood and energy level after getting treatment.
For mild sleep apnea, many people say there are small changes they have made that improve symptoms, such as losing weight, sleeping on your side, and discontinuing use of alcohol or tobacco. However when these behavioral changes don’t work, there are several sleep apnea treatment options in Denver. Somnodent makes an oral apparatus that has been clinically proven to be a safe and effective treatment for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. It is basically a custom-made splint that fits over the upper and lower teeth and is way more comfortable than using a CPAP machine. People say one of the best advantages is that the device is small enough to fit in your hand and can travel anywhere. You can even open and close your mouth when you’re using it, making it possible to drink water or speak while using it! If you have sleep apnea and live in the Denver area, visit now for a consultation and you’ll finally see what a good night’s sleep feels like!

DURAthin Porcelain Veneers are a Lot Different
Porcelain veneers are used by dentists to improve the appearance of a patients teeth. Veneers are completely unique to each patient’s individual smile, and custom fit to provide long lasting comfort and reliability. However, in some cases, patients may find the application as feeling too thick, thus disrupting speech patterns, or even causing difficulty in eating habits. In such cases, it may be necessary to seek alternative options.
DURAthin veneers are made from a very thin porcelain material designed in order to adhere to the front of the teeth without the removal of tooth enamel. The application techniques used are largely similar to those of traditional veneers, however many patients find that the DURAthin brand is more comfortable.
In general, patients with narrow smiles or those who have had teeth extracted in the past are wonderful candidates for this type of procedure. DURAthins have also been applied to individuals with worn or smaller teeth with beautiful results.
If you are interested in finding out more about this exciting procedure, you should begin by scheduling a consultation with Dr. Grabiak to better understand your available options.

Patient Review by Elizabeth H. 11/25/09
I found Dr. Grabiak on the web and decided to make an appt based on his rave reviews. He had to remove my old bridgework and replace it. I have TMJ and had had several bad experiences in the past. Dr. G allowed me to remove the plastic wedge that held my mouth open whenever I needed to allow my jaw to rest. Karen even massaged my jaw to help with the discomfort. This procedure was not as unpleasant and painful as the first time. I’m looking forward to getting my new bridge and having my teeth whitened. The office is very clean and state-or-the-art. I am greeted by name when I arrive and treated professionally. Trisha got all of my insurance info and helped me make a plan for future dental work. This is the very first time a dentist has ever asked me what I want done with my teeth. I especially liked the initial consultation. I feel like MY needs are important and I’m not just another patient or number. I would DEFINITELY recommend Dr. Grabiak and his staff to others.
About Hygienist: Have not had my teeth cleaned yet but met the hygienist. She assisted Karen with preparation of my temporary bridge work. Both of them were professional and attuned to my needs.

Guy F. Grabiak, DMD Successfully Completed Accreditation Written Examination in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
August 2009 Madison, WI – Guy F. Grabiak, DMD of Lakewood, CO, has passed the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s (AACD) Accreditation Written Examination. The Accreditation Written Examination is the first step in the Accreditation process and challenges a dentist’s or laboratory technician’s foundational knowledge in cosmetic dentistry. This examination was administered in Honolulu, Hawaii during the 25th Anniversary AACD Scientific Session.
The AACD’s Accreditation program for dentists and laboratory technicians is a three-part process consisting of a written examination, clinical case examinations, and an oral examination. Each individual pursuing Accreditation must also attend two specified workshops as part of the process. While each part of the process must be completed in sequence, dentists and laboratory technicians have up to five years to complete the process after successfully completing the written examination. By successfully passing the Accreditation Written Examination, Guy F. Grabiak, DMD has entered into the second phase of the Accreditation process.
Accreditation has evolved through the years by incorporating innovative techniques, materials, and technology. This helps the AACD maintain the highest standards in cosmetic dentistry.
About the AACD
The AACD is the world’s largest non-profit membership organization dedicated to advancing excellence in comprehensive oral care that combines art and science to optimally improve dental health, esthetics, and function. Comprised of more than 7,000 cosmetic dental professionals in 70 countries around the globe, the AACD fulfills its mission by offering superior educational opportunities, promoting and supporting a respected Accreditation credential, serving as a user-friendly and inviting forum for the creative exchange of knowledge and ideas, and providing accurate and useful information to the public and the profession.

What is a FAGD?
In 1951 a small group of dentists created a study club that would become the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). These men had the vision and foresite to create an organization that was dedicated to improving the quality of dentistry through lifelong learning. They were the pioneers in the developement of quality dental continueing education.
Today the AGD is the worlds 2nd largest dental organization with over 35,000 members. Fellowship (FAGD) in the AGD is a symbol of dentistry’s continual jorney toward improvement and progess. I joined the AGD in 2004. On Saturday, July 11, 2009 I received my AGD Fellowhip with 230 other members at a Convocation ceremony in Baltimore, Marlyland. It was a long ceremony and one has to attend in order to receive the fellowship. More importantly, I served as course sponsor for Dr. Bruce Small of New Jersey. I believe he is one of the finest dentist in the country, with an ephamasize on gold inlay, onlays and gold foils. Truely a man who displays the art and science of dentistry. I picked up some great tips and techniques. Surely came back to Denver a better dentist
