FAQs
Why should I choose holistic/ biological dental care?
We believe to practice holistic or biological dentistry is to seek the safest, least toxic way to accomplish the goals of modern dentistry and to recognize the essential connections between oral health and overall health. Biological dentistry is concerned with the whole body effects of all dental materials, techniques and procedures. It unites the best clinical practices and technologies of modern dentistry with a wide array of modalities beyond the horizon of conventional practice.
Will I get a cleaning at my new patient appointment?
Typically a “cleaning” will not be completed at your initial appointment. Your first appointment at our office will be scheduled for approximately one hour. During that time Dr. Grabiak will sit down with you to discuss your concerns, health history, dental history, etc. He will then complete a comprehensive head, neck, and oral examination. Depending on your needs he may also collect data using salivary samples, high quality digital intraoral photos, radiographs, digital impressions, etc. All of the data collected will help us to customize a treatment plan that specifically meets your needs, and allocate appropriate time to ensure all of your needs are met.
What is the cost of a crown, filling, ozone therapy, cleaning, and etc.
Every person’s dental needs are different. Before discussing pricing for treatment Dr. Grabiak will need to do a comprehensive evaluation of the area of concern. Only after Dr. Grabiak completes an evaluation and discusses his findings and recommendations with you, a member of our team will review any costs associated with your treatment plan.
What insurances do you accept?
We accept all PPO policies with out-of-network benefits. Although we’re not in-network with any insurance companies, we never leave patients stranded to figure out their dental benefits alone. As a courtesy our staff will always submit an insurance claim on your behalf (you will never be asked to file your own claims!).
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, FSA, HSA, checks, and cash. We also offer financing through CareCredit and LendingClub.
Do you offer sedation?
Yes, we want to provide a relaxing environment for our patient’s while receiving treatment. Please express your level of anxiety with Dr. Grabiak and he can help you determine which type of sedation is best for your needs. Our office offers Nitrous oxide (laughing gas), Cannabidiol (CBD) specifically blended for dental anxiety, and pharmacological minimal sedation.
What is ozone?
An ozone molecule consists of three oxygen atoms bonded together to create a negatively charged particle that exists as a colorless gas.
Ozone therapy is not new. It has been regularly used for decades for the treatment of a variety of diseases. Ozone dental therapy is considered a safe treatment to help maintain a healthy mouth and teeth. The treatment is completely natural and free from side effects that associated with many medications – it is simply a gas, not a medication.
The ozone gas, when applied to the teeth and gums, removes bacterial waste products, halts the advance of cavities, and accelerates remineralization, strengthening the teeth. With no side effects reported and a treatment that is easy to experience, we believe this advanced treatment is of great benefit to those who are experiencing the early signs of tooth decay or gum disease.
Ozone is safely used in the gaseous form, or as ozonated water to irrigate sockets after a tooth has to be removed. Necrotic and abscessed teeth requiring root canal therapy can be safely disinfected with ozone gas insufflation into the canal spaces prior to sealing them. Decayed teeth are treated with ozone gas as well prior to final tooth restoration.
The benefits of ozonation of teeth is to reduce sensitivity of the tooth after decay removal and restoration, sterilization of the ‘infected’ tooth so a new cavity is less likely to begin again, and to prevent any residual bacteria from causing any further pulpal disease, inflammation, or infection.
