Dental Fillings

Dr. Grabiak DMD, FAGD offers porcelain tooth fillings to replace old, mercury fillings and reduce the discoloration that the metallic solutions left behind. Porcelain dental fillings hold the tooth structure together, strengthening the teeth. Porcelain fillings are also used in lieu of destructive crowns because they keep the natural shape and form of the tooth. Porcelain fillings offer Dr. Grabiak’s DMD, FAGD Denver patients metal-free restorative dentistry, which allows light to flow through and reflect off the teeth, leaving a more natural smile.

Benefits of Tooth-Colored Fillings

Porcelain is used for dental fillings because of the similarities the material shares with your natural teeth. Porcelain fillings match the color and shade of your teeth, making them well-suited to use in restorations involving your front teeth or other visible parts of the teeth. The bond that the material makes with your tooth can support and strengthen your tooth’s structure. The material has many uses including filling material for decayed teeth as well as for restorations involving chipped, broken, or worn teeth. The porcelain fillings are less invasive and require less removal of healthy tooth structure to restore your teeth.

Replace Silver Amalgam Fillings

Porcelain fillings can also be used to replace old mercury amalgam fillings. The American Dental Association (ADA) has stated that there is no conclusive proof that mercury (silver) fillings can cause bodily harm, yet some research has mentioned that mercury amalgam fillings can lead to toxins entering the body and cause disease. Amalgam fillings are still in use today by some dentists, but advancements in dental technology such as porcelain tooth-like fillings are a better alternative for patients seeking more aesthetically pleasing treatments. If you wish to replace your mercury amalgam fillings with tooth-colored fillings Dr. Grabiak DMD, FAGD can help you improve the appearance of your smile with porcelain fillings. Dr. Grabiak is a biological dentist who can SAFELY remove your old mercury fillings following the recommended protocols of the International Association of Mercury-Safe Dentists (IAMSD).

Dentures are made to resemble your natural teeth in appearance and function, containing a flesh-like acrylic base that fits over your gums. The upper denture contains a base that covers the roof of your mouth, and the lower denture is constructed to accommodate the tongue. Dr. Grabiak DMD, FAGD has experience customizing dentures to meet the unique needs of each patient’s mouth and ensures a fit that is secure and comfortable. As with any new appliance entering the mouth, the dentures will take some adjusting as you get used to eating and speaking with them.

Flexible Partial Dentures

Flexible partial dentures are used when there are some healthy teeth remaining and complete dentures are unnecessary. These types of dentures adapt to the movements of the mouth and are custom-made to meet the exact specifications of your mouth. Flexible dentures also blend in with the tissue in your mouth so that they appear more natural.

Dr. Grabiak is able to utilize various treatment options to alleviate Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) pain and dysfunction. The first step is to ensure the restriction of movement, grating, pain, inflammation, or other problems are actually coming from the TMJ and not another area of the face. Once this diagnosis has been confirmed, there are a number of things you can do to help ease the pain. Resting and exercising your jaw muscles may sound contradictory, but are equally important. You may want to talk less and eat solid foods. Ice, heat, anti-inflammatory medications, muscle relaxants, and steroids can all help alleviate TMJ pain. You may decide to wear a night guard on your teeth while you sleep to keep the jaw in an open and relaxed position and help prevent you from grinding your teeth together.

Routine Check-Ups

Routine Check-Ups are extremely important. If you don’t keep up with taking care of your teeth and getting the deep cleaning that we provide, you have a likely chance of developing cavities or other issues. We strongly encourage you to schedule routine check-ups and not let the health of your teeth slowly slip away.

Teeth Whitening

For patients that want dramatic results at a rapid pace, we suggest deep teeth bleaching, as an alternative to KöR Teeth Whitening. The first step of the deep bleaching process involves Dr. Grabiak DMD, FAGD examining and creating a customized deep teeth bleaching tray to especially fit your teeth.

You will then return to Dr. Grabiak’s DMD, FAGD Denver dental office for the conditioning visit. Using deep teeth bleaching trays, a very specific hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel will be placed on your teeth for 40 minutes. Do not expect to see much, if any whiteness from this procedure. You will then be given your at-home deep teeth bleaching kit and shown how to use it. You will sleep for 14 nights with the deep bleaching trays, using a carbamide peroxide bleaching gel, selected specifically for use in deep bleaching trays to release oxygen for several hours each night. Patients typically see results by the end of the 14th night. Patients with unusually difficult stains or tetracycline stains will bleach for additional nights.

At your final visit to Dr. Grabiak’s DMD, FAGD Denver dental office, another high concentration hydrogen peroxide teeth bleaching gel will be placed on your teeth for one hour.
