Dental X-rays are an important diagnostic tool and the only way we have of seeing what’s happening inside your teeth as well as the health of the bone that supports them.

A current full-mouth series is needed when you first come to us as a patient. If your current full mouth x-ray is diagnostic and less than 5 years old, additional x-rays may not be needed in some cases. If you do not have a current full mouth x-ray Dr. Grabiak will prescribe the appropriate x-rays for your needs.

Digital x-rays offer a number of benefits over conventional film. Most importantly they drastically limit radiation exposure – as much as 80% less than with conventional film x-rays. Digital also means we have no need to keep highly toxic developing chemicals in the office. The images show up instantly on a screen – no developing films needed. We use a handheld digital x-ray unit, MaxRay. It has undergone extensive testing to ensure it is safe for use for the operator and the patient. The MaxRay interior components are thoroughly sealed with multiple sheets of lead (Pb) to block out any leakage of radiation.
