Mercury Free Fillings and restorations
What is a Dental Filling?
Dr. Grabiak DMD, FAGD offers porcelain tooth fillings to replace old, mercury fillings and reduce the discoloration that the metallic solutions left behind. When this is done, Dr. Grabiak follows the SMART protocol in which he is certified to administer by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. After the decay or existing filling is removed, BPA-free porcelain dental filling holds the tooth structure together, strengthening the teeth. Porcelain fillings are also used in lieu of crowns because they keep the natural shape and form of the tooth.
Who is a candidate for Dental Fillings?
In many cases, you won't know you have a cavity until you come in for an exam. During the exam, we use a special instrument to look for dark areas or soft spots in a tooth. X-rays further help us in identifying these trouble areas. If you have a cavity, it's recommended that it be filled sooner rather than later.
If you wish to replace your mercury amalgam fillings with tooth-colored fillings Dr. Grabiak DMD, FAGD can help you improve the appearance of your smile with porcelain fillings. Dr. Grabiak is a biological dentist who can SAFELY remove your old mercury fillings following the recommended protocols of the International Association of Mercury-Safe Dentists (IAMSD).

What happens during the Dental Filling process?
Dr. Grabiak DMD, FAGD will begin the process to restore your tooth by first prepping the tooth by removing any decay or damage. The area will then be cleaned and rid of bacteria and debris before the restoration is finalized. Dr. Grabiak accomplishes this by applying ozone gas to the site. Doing this ensures any lingering bacteria in the area is killed off before placing the final restoration.
The secret to placing porcelain fillings lies in the bonding process in which the restoration is chemically bonded to your natural tooth. This is done with a special curing light that helps to make your restoration look and feel natural.
