What is this service?

Oral health affects your overall health and well-being, but in the rush of daily life, it’s easy to forget about your mouth. When you do remember, you may find yourself reaching for the toothpaste and brushing your teeth without really paying attention to what you’re doing or how your gums are feeling. With SillHa Saliva testing you gain more insight into your oral health and systemic health.

For ages, conventional wisdom held that dental health was rooted in whether or not you flossed. The SillHa approach is both broader and more nuanced than that, looking at multiple factors contributing to wellness. The system uses a saliva sample to analyze levels of seven different proteins found in saliva. High levels of these proteins are associated with inflammation of some kind in your body—most likely, in your mouth (after all, it’s where we assess salivary quality). By assessing each of these indicators separately, we can develop a holistic picture of how healthy or sick your mouth is—and where treatment might be needed most.

What is the procedure?

The system uses a saliva sample to analyze levels of seven different proteins found in saliva. High levels of these proteins are associated with inflammation in your mouth. Saliva testing measures 7 key analytes of oral wellness to quickly generate a multi-point analysis. With a quick swish of sterile water for only 10 seconds the results of the test will be available in as little as 5 minutes. By assessing each of these inflammatory markers separately, we can develop a holistic picture of how healthy or sick your mouth is—and where treatment might be needed most.

Using the salivary analysis, Dr. Grabiak is able to provide dental care that can lead to early treatment and/or prevention before oral disease is present. Oral health has been shown to be linked with cardiovascular health in both men and women - indicating improved heart function simply by maintaining optimal oral hygiene. SillHa saliva testing will provide you with a complete picture of your health.

What are the benefits?

SillHa saliva tests provide a user-friendly analysis of key biomarkers in as little as five minutes. This test will be used as an adjunct to traditional screening methods for comprehensive oral care. The proprietary algorithm used to generate the report allows Dr. Grabiak to quantify an array of factors that most dentists never consider.
